New Contests

We've found a couple of new football contests and posted details in the “Contests” section of LVSports. Of particular interest is a weekly at Dean's Place (S. Dean Martin Rd.). Even though it's too late to qualify for season prizes and the weekly prize is just $100, you may still find it worth entering for the perks. The $30 entry fee includes a free breakfast buffet on Sundays during the morning games and free hot dogs in the afternoon throughout the season. The buffet costs $10 if you aren't in the contest, so you need to go three times to get the value equivalent.

Lucky's Carryover

With no winners in the Lucky's contest last week, the carryover makes the prize for a perfect card this week $12,720.

Best Parlay Cards

Lucky's also advertises the best parlay-card odds in town and it looks like they are. We compared against almost every other card in town and Lucky's payoffs were highest, or tied for highest, in every category from 3-teamers at 6.75-for-1 to 10-teamers at 850-for-1.

Following Fezzik Due to workload, Fezzik is playing only the Hilton's SuperContest this year. He was a pedestrian 2-3 in Week 1. Remember, message board members get the 2-time champion's picks first, posted on the boards on Saturday mornings.

Reduced Juice Tonight

Don't forget the LV Hilton offers promotional -105 pricing tonight for both NFL and college games from 3 to 11 p.m. It's the only book we know of doing that this year.

Good Result on the Boards
We had a good start to the season on the message boards. Fezzik put up some good early picks that experienced good positive line movement and resulted in a winning weekend.Join now to get in on this weekend's action. It's $99 for the month (so you get four weekends) or $999 for the year.

Best MNF Parties

We checked out more than a dozen parties on the first Monday night of the season, and continuing the trend of recent years, they're much less elaborate than they used to be. Sam's Town and Suncoast are again giving out a free hot dog and beer. At Sam's Town you can also opt for a hamburger (it's the better play). Others we visited that aren't worth making an effort to get to were Rampart, Boulder Station, Eastside Cannery, M Resort, Palms, and Orleans. The Gold Coast party was decent, though the cash drawings after every quarter have been cut way back to $400 total. Best of all was easily South Point. We'll check out more parties in upcoming weeks.
