Super Bowl

The New England Patriots opened -3.5 against the New York Giants for this year's Super Bowl. The line was immediately pounced on by Giants bettors, who moved it down to Pats -3. With Giants money continuing to show, some 2.5s have already surfaced. The total opened at 56 and was also bet down quickly to 54.5 and 55, but is drifting back up. The rematch of the classic 2007 Super Bowl is expected to result in a heavy betting handle, possibly approaching the 2006 record of $94.5 million.

Props Up Today

According to an announcement from LVH (formerly LV Hilton), its prop sheets will come out today at 5 pm. Since LVH is the leader in setting prop lines and is followed by several other books, look for all of the Vegas casinos to post their props before the end of the weekend.

Super Bowl Parties

Announcements about “Big Game' parties (as the casinos call it to avoid trademark problems with the NFL over the name “Super Bowl”) are beginning to come out. We're compiling a list at LasVegasAdvisor.com. In the meantime, the bars in town that follow the Giants are AP's Grill & Tavern and Johnny Fontane's Beach House. The bars that follow the Patriots are Cavalier Lounge and East Coast Eats.

LVA Member Rewards

The Las Vegas Advisor's 2012 Member Rewards Book is in-house and ready for use by members ($37 online, $50 full) throughout 2012. The lone sports-betting offer for a discounted futures bet at Lucky's was withdrawn this year, due to the changeover in ownership that's currently taking place (William Hill acquired Lucky's this year).
