Las Vegas Football Update 2011, Week #22
This is the 22nd and final installment of the Las Vegas Football Update this season.Super Bowl
Interest appears high on this year's game and many expect the betting handle to exceed 2006's record of $94.5 million. The line opened Patriots -3.5 and quickly moved to -3. The 3 has remained fairly solid, though some 2.5s have shown in Las Vegas. The total opened at 55 and has been as low as 53. It remains available within that range.
SB Parties
We're up to 32 Super Bowl parties on our list at LasVegasAdvisor.com. Click “Las Vegas Special Events” on the home page, then “Big Game Parties.” We're still putting them up, but the best of the bunch so far is at the Brewery on Sunset Rd., where it's $25 for all you can eat and drink, $1,000 plus prizes giveaways, and a video poker high-hand contest for $50 each hour.
Home Teams
The bars in town that follow the Giants are AP's Grill & Tavern and Johnny Fontane's Beach House. The bars that follow the Patriots are Cavalier Lounge and East Coast Eats.
Fezzik on the Radio
Fezzik did a good interview on the “Gridlocks” radio show this week, talking about betting the Super Bowl and opportunities that are currently available. We'll have a link up on LVASports.com as soon as it's available from the show.
SB QoDs
The Thursday “Question of the Day” at LasVegasAdvisor.com addresses getting a seat in the sports books for the Super Bowl. Friday's is on places to find lists of prop bets.
The Anthem Prop
Of all the crazy props, the one that always captures attention is the one relating to the length of the national anthem. Two years ago Carrie Underwood went over 1:42 and last year a lyrics-challenged Christina Aguilera went over 1:54. This year the over/under for Kelly Clarkson is a brisk 1:34.
